MoRENet signs memorandum with Huawei Technologies Mozambique
MoRENet and Huawei Technologies Mozambique initialed on 20 August 2018, in Maputo, the memorandum of understanding scientific cooperation, which will be implemented in Higher Education Institutions and research.
This is a memorandum that aims to promote the strengthening of the “MoRENet Academy” through the establishment of strategic cooperation for MoRENet staff training, on the one hand, and the implementation of the Huawei Certification Program, including the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) infrastructures, establishing the HUAWEI ICT Laboratory, on the other.
Speaking at the signing of the memorandum, the Minister of Science and Technology, Higher Education and Professional Technician, Jorge Nhambiu said that the purpose of the memorandum is to promote the strengthening of the MoReNet Academy through strategic cooperation for the training of staff and Huawei Certification, including the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) infrastructures, establishing the HUAWEI ICT Lab.

As Nhambiu explains, one of MoRENet’s tasks is the technical training of staff of higher education, research and vocational technical education institutions linked to MoRENet.
According to the official, the memorandum will contribute to the realization of this objective of MoRENet as the Government, telecommunications companies and other national entities are acquiring computer equipment and telecommunications produced by the company Huawei Technologies.
There is currently computer and telecommunications equipment produced by the Huawei company installed in the Maluana Government Data Center as well as wireless data communication equipment installed in 16 university campuses of our higher education institutions under MoRENet “, said the minister.
Remember that MoRENet is an initiative implemented by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher Education and Technical Professional (MCTESTP) and It consists of a national platform for sharing Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) resources in which national institutions of higher education, Professional Technical Education and Research have access to national and international high-speed data communication links allowing access and sharing of information between them and their international counterparts.
At the time, the leader reaffirmed the commitment of the Mozambican executive to continue to support the implementation of this initiative for the role that it has been having in the development of the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation and in the subsystems of Higher Education and Technical-Vocational Education in our country.
