MoRENet in partnership with Indiana University Conducts training in perfSONAR

From 02 to 05 September 2019 the perfSONAR course took place in the training room of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher and Vocational Education (MCTESTP). The aim of the course was to provide participants with advanced network management capabilities using tools used in federated communities to test, measure and monitor the performance of academic and research institutions' data communication networks.

The course was taught by Indiana University instructors including Doug Southworth, Network and Systems Analyst and Antoine Delvaux, perfSONAR Trainer / Workshop Facilitator. In addition, the training was supported by instructors from two MoRENet network infrastructure technicians.

The course was designed for the focal points of MoRENet member institutions working as Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, IT Technicians responsible for managing, operating, monitoring and ensuring network security in the institutions benefiting from MoRENet services.

The course was attended by 23 technicians, 19 men (83%) and 4 women (17%). Participants came from 21 partner institutions and beneficiaries of MoRENet services.

As part of the initiative and cooperation with the University of Indiana, MoRENet will allocate this network performance measurement and monitoring equipment (perfSONAR nodes) in the institutions participating in this training action, which will be activated for use shortly after the training.
