Award-Winning Huawei ICT Competition Winners 2018-2019

Winning participants of the Huawei ICT Competition 2018-2019, held by huawei, received their awards on August 12, 2019, in a ceremony held in partnership with MoRENet, UEM and MCTESTP, which took place at the University University Campus. Eduardo Mondlane - Pedagogical Complex in Maputo.

 The Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher Education and Vocational Technical Education (MCTESTP) through the Mozambique Network of Higher Education and Research Institutions (MoRENet) and in the context of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on August 20, 2018 with Huawei Mozambique for strategic cooperation in the area of ICTs that included a Talent Search and Development component, held the competition called “Huawei ICT Competition Southern Africa 2018-2019”.

264 students from 8 (eight) higher education institutions in Mozambique participated in the competition. Among the participants, 18 students were approved in the national final phase of the competition, and 3 (three) managed to reach the regional phase and represented our country in the competition with representatives from eleven (11) countries in the regional level competition.

The Awards Ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Science and Technology, Higher Education and Professional Technical, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Mozambique, the Rector of UEM and the Huawei Executive Director in Mozambique as members of the presidio.

In this ceremony the following participants were awarded:

1st Place: Amanade Aiuba (Higher Institute of Transport and Communication -ISUTC);

2nd Place: David Cordeiro Mussa (Eduardo Mondlane University - UEM) and

Paulo Castigo Ouana (Mozambique Higher Institute of Science and Technology of Mozambique -ISCTEM)

3rd Place: Chaves Felix Leonel (UEM)

Dinis Ngale (UP)

Macita Shelton José (UniMaputo)

In addition to the first places mentioned above, the best students, the best instructors and the best academies were awarded. In the category of Best Students were awarded: Marco Garujo (UEM), Vania Zacarias (UEM), Fernando Angelo (ISCTEM), Valter Timbe (ISCTEM), Pacule Arlindo (UniMaputo) .As Best Instructors, Moses Mucelo (MoRENet), Rogério Muhate (MoRENet), Macamo Xadreque (UniMaputo), and Best Academies: MoRENet and the UEMCIUEM Computer Center.


Students who pass the national finals have received Huawei International Certification called “Certified ICT Associate: HCIA-Routing & Switching”.
