About Us

The Mozambique Research and Education Network, MoRENet was established by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2005. The MoRENet project is a part of the ICT Policy Implementation Strategy. The NREN is a nationwide data network that will interconnect academic and research institutions, developing activities with non-profit purposes. The network, which is intended to be a framework for fast and efficient exchange of research data among its members, has as main philosophy to take advantage and make use of the already deployed fiber infrastructure in the country. The network accommodate both public and private academic institutions and research centers. MoRENet is one of the founding members of the UbuntuNet Alliance for Research and Education Networking.

MoRENet  currently provides Internet bandwidth to 106 member institutions.
